What is Real Estate Staging?

Home staging can be done on many levels, from a complete remodeling to staging the main rooms (entry, living/dining room, kitchen, and master bedroom), or just a “thorough” cleaning.  And what I mean by thorough cleaning is a deep cleaning which will make every surface, nook-and-cranny sparkle & shine. 

As a seller, you will need to adjust your attitude.  Your home is no longer your home, it’s a product.  That’s right, the buyer will be comparing your home to other available homes on the market.  Regardless of your location and the selling price, you will have competition.  The problem is, is that most sellers are not aware of things that should be done to prepare the home to sell. If you want to sell your home faster and for top dollar you should seriously consider staging your home.  Even though the buyers won’t live in your home in its staged look, you are staging to attract the buyer because it presents a lifestyle that they dream of… your selling a fantasy.  The more you do to stage your home (inside & out) you have a better chance of getting that quick sale. It’s true… you have only one opportunity and just seconds to give that potential buyer a good first impression.  Many buyers have already formed an opinion when they approach your house. 

Your realtor should have a good eye for design and should be able to provide you with a checklist to complete or you can call a professional home stager. This checklist will assist you in preparing your home for sale.  It is very important that you complete all of the tasks on the list and should be completed before you place your home on the market because you don’t want to show your home while workers are still on the job.  It’s great that you are having the home painted and spruced up, but you don’t want the painter on the ladder when potential buyers are coming around to look.  Typically the buyer wants to see the home furnished, not one that is half complete.  Keep in mind that most buyers contract with a home inspection agency once an offer and acceptance has been agreed upon.

Staging Evaluation Report

We also offer a written staging evaluation report for those who wish to prepare and stage the home themselves.  This is a comprehensive evaluation that is put into a detailed report form, which will include recommendations that should be taken to properly prepare your home for sale.  This evaluation report will also provide you information on what areas need attention on your property, inside and out, room by room.  Redesigning Women you the homeowner can implement all or part of the report recommendations.  Evaluations can run between $250 and $750.  Redesigning Women stagers are flexible and depending on the homeowners needs and budget concerns we can arrange to do as much or as little as you want.  You will be amazed when you see the results and often the cost is less than a new armchair.
